What the tale is about
A child begins wondering about hearing at home. Grandfather cannot hear some sounds as well as he once did, while Mestan the cat notices even the tiniest noises. Mother can even hear the child playing with a tablet from the kitchen. These examples show that people and animals hear according to their abilities, but only Allah hears every sound. The child learns that As-Sami, the All-Hearing, hears ants’ footsteps, rustling leaves, and prayers from every place, including children praying at night. The story closes with the child’s quiet, heartfelt prayer.
What this tale teaches
